Clarksville, TN (April 5, 2011) - The Clarksville Department of Electricity is proud to be a part of another very successful science fair for Clarksville-Montgomery County students.

CDE and Austin Peay State University have co-sponsored the science fair each year since it began in 1993. The science fair is a challenging and rewarding activity for students in grades K-5 studying the scientific method to answer a question they may have about the world around them. This allows the students a way to use their creative imagination and encourages enthusiasm and excitement for Science. Students spend countless hours experimenting and creating their projects to showcase to the community. This year, more than 400 projects were entered in the science fair.

CDE broadband division manager Christy Batts, APSU representatives and Mrs. Rosalind Kurita participted in the 2011 awards ceremony held for students last Friday in the Dunn Center at APSU. CDE provided every student with a participation medal or ribbon and a t-shirt. CDE also sponsored the awards for the top three winners. The first place winner reeived a $100 savings bond, second place received a $75 savings bond and the third place winner received a $50 savings bond. In addition to medals and ribbons, t-shirts and monetary awards, a trophy was awarded to the elementary school with the most winners. Mrs. Rosalind Kurita supplied the school trophy which was awarded to Sango Elementary.
