CDE Lightband - Clarksville Department of Electricity – Clarksville, TN

CDE Lightband was presented the 2023 Solar Champion Award from The Tennessee Solar Energy Industries Association (TenneSEIA) during the Tennessee Valley Solar + Storage Conference in Chattanooga, TN. The annual award recognized individuals or entities that illustrate leadership in support of solar energy deployment in the region.

“We appreciate TenneSEIA recognizing our efforts to deliver cleaner energy to the residents and businesses in the Tennessee Valley,” said Brian Taylor, CDE Lightband General Manager. “Our current solar projects are just a few of the ways we are helping improve the impact of electric power generation on the environment,” Taylor added.

CDE Lightband has continued to exhibit leadership in advocating solar energy across Tennessee. They have notably demonstrated great perseverance with setbacks on their own solar project. In 2021, plans for a 15MW site were modified due to unsuitable karst topography. After considerable research to find new sites, two solar projects totaling 6.75 MW are under construction in partnership with TVA’s Flex Program and Silicon Ranch. In addition, CDE Lightband has been a leading voice in improvements to the Flex Program so their members can benefit more directly through a number of educational initiatives.
