1 This charge is for general sets. Property owners renting and having a volume of meter sets will be covered by CDE Lightband Operating Policy No. 2-15 if they choose.

(SEPTEMBER 2026) – The CDE Lightband Power Board approved a 1.17% overall retail electric rate increase, effective October 1, 2026. The need for the increase is due to the continued rise in the costs of materials, equipment, labor and other expenses necessary to operate and maintain our electric system. For residential customers, the average usage of 1239 kWh will result in an increase of approximately $2.60 per month.
“We don’t take rate increases lightly, but as the cost of doing business continues to rise, we must invest in our system to meet the growing energy needs of our city,” said CDE Lightband General Manager Brian Taylor. “We remain focused on enhancing the reliability and resiliency of power for our customers, while controlling our costs.”
The electric rate for CDE Lightband customers includes components to cover TVA’s cost for power generation and transmission to our community as well as components to cover the cost for CDE Lightband to deliver electricity to customers. In addition, TVA charges a fuel cost adjustment, which fluctuates monthly to cover the current market cost of natural gas, coal and other fuels used to generate power.
